Tuesday, November 28, 2006 work. off. training.>3 days of work throughout the weekend. yes, a little tiring, climbing up the shelves in the stores, helping customers to try out shoes... searching for shirt sizes that customers request for. but its the fun attitude of the team at suntec that keeps me going. the part timers, the experienced people down there. and today's off day was spent lazing around, planning what to do. hmm... at least i borrowed 2 library books that are to be read on the journey to work. to kill time. planning to go make a new passport this thursday (which is my next off day). then will conserve my energy fir the big big marathon on sunday. then i will devise a ironman training plan... which hopfully works out fine.

Thursday, November 23, 2006 yeah!>after 2 days of interesting training, getting to understand more about adidas - the brand and her products, finally get to go to work soon! but a pleasant surprise for me! off day tomorrow! yes! an off day before i even start work at my shop at suntec. haha. how cool is that. so i get to laze around. but guess i will swim and cycle and then head down to visit my friends and see how they are doing in the shops. and i might get that bright red or brown adidas sling bag. that synthetic leather adidas one. haha. the staff uniform was ok... a little big for me but i'll try my best to eat more to fit into the uniform. for the shoes... did not get any of the 3 choices i've made, but nevertheless, i still got quite a good shoe. guess i will eventually use that for my training runs and buy another for the work.
i must really applaud adidas for having such a structured orientation programme. and special thanks to the people i've met: alicia, pamela, wendy, may, fahmi and dexter and etc.... nice bunch of people at the company, working as a family together. this is the 1st time i've felt such warmth in a company. previously worked with tangs but i only hung out with my x'mas promos team. the others are just purely 'hi & bye' relationship. also, the training at adidas is very intense. its targeted at ensuring that we have a good basic knowledge about the company and her products, so that we can minimumly satisfy the customers' needs. others i guess we will have to take the initiative to learn at the shop. nothing beats the actual experience of serving the customer. met fahmi today. a really avid sportsman. and the good thing is he actually lives in the east and he actually runs to suntec in the mornings. haha. guess i'll have 1 more training partner now. he'll be targetting a 4:30 for the marathon in dec. guess i'll have a friend to tag along to for the marathon now ... to keep myself motivated by talking cock with him.

Tuesday, November 21, 2006 what you wanna be...>everytime you watch a movie, it inspires you to be something. i call that a good movie. because it connects with you. your mind and soul. i watched infernal affairs; i wanna be a policeman. i watched the guardian; i wanna be a lifeguard. now i've watched step up; i wanna learn dancing. but those are just sudden out-of-the-blue thoughts. what do i really want to be. teacher? 'cos i'm not after a desk job. guess a teacher's life would be challenging yet meaningful. now i've got plans to make my tuition thingy suceed. hope all things go as planned. if they don't, i wouldn't give up too. i have to find the cause of the problem and mend it till its right. yes. the mindset of an entreprenuer-to-be. today, i was invited to the ALTI cohesion day. really fun. haven't went bowling for so long already. score was a disappointing 78 only. haha. 1 strike and 1 spare. but nevertherless, it was a fun day. and i caught a nice movie with ah quan and joshua at vivocity again - step up. nice dance moves and music. make you really feel like dancing. although i can't really dance. whatever. working tomorrow le. sian. hope adidas will be a fun place to work in...

Monday, November 20, 2006 2 posts in a day. why not?>felt a sudden urge to swim. 60 laps. 3000m. a rather good improvement in timing. hope the improvement continues, and then i can swim 60 laps in 0 mins if it follows an arithmatic progression =P. mum's b'day yesterday. so i decided to cook. never cooked for a very very long time le. but still got some skills la. haha. honeyed chicken wings, oven baked prawns and grilled salmon. not a bad attempt. honeyed chicken wings were well marinated. when deep fried, it gives a yummy caramalised taste. drooling already? wait. oven baked prawns and grilled salmon were all marinated with just salt. this is to retain most of the 'freshness' and 'natural sea' taste of the seafood. yes. an enjoyable lunch at home. by master chef chan. if you guys ever need me to cook for any functions, don't hesitate and just give me a call. haha. always available. evening was spent hanging out with old npcc mates. 6 guys in total. crystal jade xiao long bao. this place is good. i must say. 3 times i've been to this place. 3 times it never fails to impress me. ordered this dish called 'ma yi shang shu' in chinese. or rather 'the ant climbs the tree' in direct translation. when it was served, even the adults seating beside us will exclaiming... 'wow! why that table orders so much good food!'. haha. well. thats based on experience. the more times you frequent that place, the more good things you know about that place. spent the whole night talking. after ns le. everyone's working. lesser time to meet up le. hope we will have time for our np guys' once a year bachelor's night at the x'mas/ new year period....

Saturday, November 18, 2006 wat a day!>movies yesterday till late. casino royale. was a special screening. all thanks to kai dun, who passed me 2 free tix to that screening at GV Max, vivovity. too much hype about that cineplex. its just like any other normal gv cineplex really. not as big as Lido 1, not as grandly decorated as the grand cathay. just normal carpet flooring with maroon cushioned seats. a little bigger than usual cineplexes only. nothing much really. took some photos of food republic at viviocity yesterday... but somehow they got lost while being transferred to the pc, so no pics for this post. sigh.
the movie was er... so.. so.. ba. chicks yes. gadgets? car porn? nah. no 'stealth' car as in the past movie, not much of those death defying stunts in past bond flicks. just like any other normal movie. but well. this screening is special in some way. cdf was the guest-of-honour. the audiences were reservists, or supposed to be. those who were not either got lucky lobangs from friends or their dad. and lastly... a movie which was supposed to start at 2115hrs, but instead delayed till 2145hrs before the adverts came up. no wonder i reached home at 1 plus am.
today. not much things done also. just waiting for next tuesday when i get to go for my adidas training. hmm... went around my tampines estate to give flyers. door - to door. took me around 400 flyers for 4 blocks for 2 hours. hope got some biz tonight. wishing myself the best of luck. haha.
by the way if you guys drop by this blog just tag a msg. haha. my tagbox looks quite dead yeah? thanks in advance.

Thursday, November 16, 2006 wednesday - 14 nov 2006>nothing much today... went for shoe and uniform fitting at adidas. then went to watch a movie titled 'days of glory'. this show is quite nice. its some sort like a documentary and yet it has got some action stuff in it so that it won't feel boring. like band of brothers i guess. the movie talks about how the people living in the colonies of france fought so hard for france and their efforts are hardly or never recognized and when they fought for their rights, their superiors merely said that they will look into their welfare but they never did. the french were just treating them like slaves. nice movie. the movie is screened at the picture-house at the new cathay. sat on the 'oscar' chairs. they are just like any other normal chairs. a little wider i guess. but nothing really special about that cineplex except that the seats are bright yellow and no food and drinks are allowed cos i think they do not want their bright yellow chairs to be dirtied by popcorn or drinks stains. hmm... maybe things are easier to be camouflaged for normal cineplexes as their seats are dark maroon in colour.
food.. hmm... dinner at some restaurant at plaza singapura... called mahattan something.. cannot really remember the name. something like fish & co, but i would prefer fish & co stuff cos i think there is more quality @ fish & co. oh yes! if you have time, drop by a small little shop at raffles city basement where they sell fried mars bar. 4 small balls of fried mars bar with a scoop of vanilla/ chocolate ice cream for $2.95 only! yum yum. but girls beware! this thing is sinful and is full of chocolate. haha. calories and more calories. guess you'll need to do a run after eating this sinful dessert...
wenjian! stop fiddling with the herbs on your fish!

Tuesday, November 14, 2006 just another day>8 rounds around bedok reservoir. i must be crazy. haha. 1st round was ok. 2nd round was better as my muscles loosened up. 3rd round... hmm.. things started to get boring. only aunties and uncles in bedok reservoir. ocassionally i see runners sprinting past me but they were all running one round only. so the mental thingy starts to set in. bored. tired. 4th round finally. yeah. halfway through. then the big sunny sun decided to rise and shine and sets its powerful rays onto the reservoir. sigh. can't stand the heat. finally gave up after i completed the 5th round. well. at least i must say this was another form of good training. by mentally torturing myself running 5 4.4km loops. nothing can get more boring than this i bet. running on trail for 22km straight was a different experience too. more tiring i guess. and at least i managed to breathe in fresh air for the whole run. but i think i should revert back to the ecp route. if not i will die of boredom.
went down for the contract signing at adidas today. well. all i can say is that this company is very very professional. from the way they handle interviews to the way they orientate their new staffs. i must say the perks are wonderful. free 3 sets of adidas uniforms. free adidas shoes of my choice to wear. will start work next tuesday. 2 days of training at their hq before actually going down for the sales. so i dunno which outlet i'm going to yet. actually ok with anywhere. but think the best place for me will be suntec cos its near to my home! perks aside. i will soon become an adidas man when i start work. as the company rule states: we are not allowed to wear any other sports brand. no more nike for me. so this week will be my last week of nikes, umbros, new balance...

Sunday, November 12, 2006 the guardian@vivocity>guardian of the seas. the us coast guard. well. this show made me want to take up the life saving course le. the broze medallion as it is known. guess take it as a form of life skill ba. still waiting for this course to be offered as safra tampines. meanwhile, i will stick to doing tuition, trying to start up a tuition agency and working at adidas. not forgetting training too.
go watch the guardian before it disappears from the cinemas! its really worth it! wow! and try the food republic at vivocity. nice deco. a little crowded and queue's alittle long. food's ok. but go there for the new fresh look of a foodcourt if you are sick and bored of the normal stainless steel tables and plastic chairs you see in normal food courts. this one's a real nice food court. too bad the food's alittle too expensive. $4.50 for a bowl of duck noodle where i can get it elsewhere at $3.
vivocity's alittle big. got lots of new stuff and shops. great place to shop and hang out with friends. unfortunately toilets are alittle cramped up and the floors are wet, slippery and dirty. the gents stinks too. guess its just far too much people and the toilet has far exceeded its supposed handlung capacity. think the cleaners are also having quite a hard time cleaning up this mega mall ba. guess things would turn better after a few months when the details get sorted out. haha.

Saturday, November 11, 2006 running>waking up at 6am in the morning. feeling lethargic. your mind tells you that you should sleep more and just go have breakfast. the angel in you says 'no'. so you wake up. wash up. change to your running gear in preparation for your 28km run. you took the stairs down. walked to the start line - traffic junction at st. hilda's primary school. the traffic light turns to the 'green man'. you start your stopwatch. stepped out. your 1st stride. many more to come. the 1st sweat bead starts to fall from your forehead. you complain to yourself why you subject yourself to such a torture. but you kept on running. the cool morning breeze brushes against your face. you reached the 2nd traffic junction. crossed it. headed down. straight towards upper changi road. you just completed 2km. 26km more. you turned left. ran straight down towards east coast park. you glanced at your watch. 35 minutes. not a bad pace. east coast park. a long stretch of running track with good shade awaits your arrival. the sun rises. darn. why are there not enough clouds to provide more shade. all the way till the end of fort road. you've passed the walkers, the joggers. almost 1/2 done. about 13km. turned back. your mental starts to get weak. the devil tells you to walk. but the angel tells you to run. the angel won. you ran. your leg starts to ache. your calf muscle gets tight. your thighs get sore. but determination carries you along. all the way till the next turning point ay carpark f2. the sun shines high. the mouth feels dry. stopped for a water break. and continued the run all the way back home. 2 hours and 40 minutes from when you've started, you reached the finish line. you are a winner. you've completed another of your planned training. cheers. whatever pain you've gone through is all worthwhile.
discipline. determination. endurance. character of a runner.
next: 35km challenge.

Tuesday, November 07, 2006 patience and more patience>got a job offer from fish & co today but rejected it. then a tuition agent called me to offer sec 3 a/e maths for $180 for 8 hours per month... but in the end never got it cos that agent said the parents wanted a undergrad... oh well... anything... i will wait for better deals. haha. life is all about waiting and waiting to grab hold of the right opportunities. if only i had the patience, i would be in the subaru challenge... the last 22 now. haha. slightly regretting the fact that i did'nt go register. my next chance will be like 3 years later after uni... when i have free time again.

Sunday, November 05, 2006 hey! i'm turning 20 very soon!>ya... in 12 minutes time as i type this post. and it is also in 12 minutes time i end my career as a soldier. so i did my last soldierly run of about 25 km from east coast park all the way to marina south and back... took me and my friend 2.5 hours. haha. crazy it might sound. but i've made up my mind. rather train hard in prep for the standard chartered marathon and langkawi ironman, instead of going for the subaru challenge. last i heard were 239 contestants standing at 2230 hrs. upon hearing that i was like 'darn, i should have taken part'. but well, i'm satisfied with my life now. no car = no worries. i can always rent one. hmmm... 1 more week to slack before i start working. hopfully can start work straight after my interview next monday. this means more income and a more focussed life. haha. life past few days have been so aimless, not knowing what to do. guess i should go to the library next week. the ironman dream was lived by Xin Wei on

Friday, November 03, 2006 recovery>recovered... well... at least i feel stronger again. went for a 3km swim again, then felt darn tired now. still feel like sleeping. guess i will have to postpone my scheduled long run to some other day, rather than chionging everything and then have not enough rest then fall sick again. guess its time to train wisely too and not just keep on doing quantity. need to focus more on quality work now.
can finally collect my pink i/c tomorrow. yes. 1 more day to my pink i/c. 3 more days to ord. 3 more days to my b'day. 2 more days to the subaru challenge. i will be giving it a miss anyway. after thinking for so long i finally realised that its not worth to sacrifice a few days just for that car. also, i don't think i can last that long. haha.
